Advisory Committee

Pursuant to Resolution IPPO 2/1, an Advisory Committee comprising 13 experts has been established to serve as the think tank for the Pact organization and to carry out work as requested by the Pact. The Advisory Committee convenes twice a year, with meetings held on the day preceding the spring and autumn sessions.

Mandate and Functions

The Advisory Committee provides expert knowledge to the Pact in the manner and form requested by the Pact. Its primary focus is on research and research-based recommendations.

The Committee may also propose further research initiatives within the scope of work defined by the Pact, for consideration and approval by the Pact.

In its work, the Committee should be action-oriented, and its advisory scope should be limited to thematic issues pertinent to the Pact's mandate, namely, the promotion and protection of the right to national development.

The Committee consists of 13 independent experts from diverse professional backgrounds, representing different regions of the world. Experts are nominated by non-governmental organizations affiliated with the Pact and elected by the Pact. Elections typically take place during the September session of the IPPO.

Members serve for a term of three years and may be re-elected once. Their term of membership commences on October 1st of the year in which they are elected.
