On June 27 (Geneva time), at the United Nations Office at Geneva, Dong Simeng, a student from Jiangsu University, China, made a speech on "Transnational Human Trafficking," calling on the international community to strengthen cooperation and jointly address this global challenge. Dong Simeng pointed out in his speech that transnational human trafficking has become a serious human rights violation problem in the world today, especially affecting women and children in economically underdeveloped areas. Traffickers often lure impoverished people into traps under the guise of providing job opportunities or improving living conditions. Due to incomplete legal systems and insufficient law enforcement in some countries, human trafficking often cannot be effectively combated and stopped.

"Many women and children are trafficked to foreign countries and forced to engage in forced prostitution, pornography, and other sexual services. Their dignity and rights are severely trampled upon," said Dong Simeng. "What's worse, some children are sold for illegal adoption, begging on the streets, or engaging in criminal activities such as theft and drug trafficking, and their childhood is mercilessly deprived."

Faced with this severe situation, Dong Simeng put forward two important suggestions. Firstly, the international community should strengthen cooperation and establish effective mechanisms to combat transnational human trafficking networks. By sharing intelligence and coordinating actions, we can break the transnational criminal chain of criminals and curb the spread of human trafficking from the source. At the same time, governments of all countries should increase law enforcement efforts, improve legal systems, and ensure severe punishment for human trafficking.

Secondly, it is crucial to raise public awareness of the issue of human trafficking. Dong Simeng calls for widespread promotion of the dangers and preventive measures of human trafficking through media, education, and other platforms, in order to enhance the self-protection ability of vulnerable groups. She emphasized, "Only when the whole society realizes the seriousness of human trafficking and works together to prevent and combat it, can we truly protect innocent lives from harm."
