IPPO GENEVA, July 2 (Reporter Li Shihui) -- During the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), at the meeting on the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report on Saint Kitts and Nevis, a representative of a Chinese civil organization called on the international community to jointly resist unilateral sanctions and external interference, advocating the safeguarding of countries' independent right to development through the International Patriotic Pact.

The meeting on July 1 was chaired by Ms. Riia Salsa-Audiffren, Vice-President of the Human Rights Council. Speaking at the session, Xiaolong Li, representative of the International Patriotic Pact Organization and the Shaanxi Patriotic Volunteer Association, stated that the organization is composed of 300 NGOs from 68 countries and firmly advocates the principle of "Loving One's Own Country Without Harming Other Nations' Interests." The organization highly commended Saint Kitts and Nevis for the achievements made in implementing the recommendations from the previous UPR cycle.

Li pointed out that, regarding the challenges in the judicial system and the protection of vulnerable groups mentioned during the review, true patriotism means facing problems squarely and seeking cooperation. However, resolving these internal challenges cannot be achieved without a peaceful and stable external environment. The concept of the International Patriotic Pact and the "review mechanism for the nation's rights to development" aim to provide institutional guarantees for countries to calmly resolve their internal issues. This aligns highly with Saint Kitts and Nevis' "Sustainable Island State Agenda." He called on the Human Rights Council and developing countries to actively participate in the relevant mechanisms, jointly resist unilateral sanctions, and achieve genuine national development.

During the statement, Li announced that the International Patriotic Pact Organization will host its Autumn Forum at the UN Office in Nairobi on September 21, 2026. Together with global peace-loving institutions, the forum will explore how to unite patriotic forces, reshape a new international peace order, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

During the review, representatives from various parties affirmed Saint Kitts and Nevis' positive efforts in advancing its human rights endeavors and called on the international community to continue supporting small island developing states in tackling development challenges.
