IPPO GENEVA, July 2 (Reporter Li Shihui) -- During the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), a representative of a Chinese civil organization commended the positive progress made by the Federated States of Micronesia in addressing climate change and safeguarding the rights to survival and development at the meeting on the adoption of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) report on Micronesia. The representative called on the international community to respect the human rights development paths independently chosen by various countries.

The meeting on June 30 was chaired by Mr. Sidharto Reza Surydipuro, President of the Human Rights Council. In his statement, Donghai Huang, representative of the Shaanxi Patriotic Volunteer Association, expressed the organization's appreciation for Micronesia's advancements in the field of human rights. He specifically highlighted the country's practice of integrating a human rights perspective into its climate adaptation plans, noting that this has effectively safeguarded the people's rights to survival and development.

Huang pointed out that Micronesia's steady promotion of human rights on the basis of respecting national sovereignty reflects a profound understanding of national responsibility. As a civil organization, they firmly believe that all countries should explore human rights development paths based on their own national conditions, and they support Micronesia in continuing to advance its human rights endeavors while safeguarding national sovereignty.

During the statement, Huang also announced that the International Patriotic Pact Organization will host its Autumn Forum at the UN Office in Nairobi on Sept. 21, 2026. Themed "The International Patriotic Pact Organization and the Nation's Rights to Development," the forum will join hands with global peace-loving organizations to explore pathways for building a community with a shared future for mankind and reshaping a new international peace order.

During the review, representatives from various parties affirmed Micronesia's efforts in promoting gender equality and protecting vulnerable groups, while calling on the international community to continue supporting small island developing states in tackling the challenges of climate change.
