(Theme: International Patriotic Pact & Nation's Rights to Development - Shaping an New International Order)
I. Event Background and Objectives
Background:
On October 1, 2025, the United Nations Office at Geneva witnessed the official adoption of the International Patriotic Pact, jointly drafted by over 160 co-initiators of international patriotic pact organization. The pact was born out of a century of changes intertwined with global governance challenges and development demands: economic globalization was impacted by headwinds, US priority policies intensified economic fragmentation, the expansion of US and European hegemony gave rise to exclusionary politics, and the global industrial chain was turbulent due to geopolitical games; At the same time, developing countries' economic autonomy and resource control have been repeatedly eroded in the international order dominated by developed countries. Although the 1986 United Nations Declaration on the Right to Development explicitly stated that the right to development is a human right, the wealth gap continues to widen in reality.
In this context, the 2026 IPPO Forum will consolidate global consensus among NGOs, reshaping the concept of "Love one’s own country without harming other nations’ interests" as a national consciousness of national development, and clarifying the "international dimension of patriotism" - that is, the obligation to safeguard one's own development rights and respect the sovereignty of other countries and participate in global cooperation. The pact establishes principles such as "the nation’s rights to development as the foundation of human rights protection" and "parallel sovereignty equality and the right to development", providing a new paradigm for cracking down on "hegemonic interference" and "development deficiency".
Therefore, as the main conductor of the International Patriotic Pact Organization project, we plan to jointly organize the 2026 IPPO Forum on "International Patriotic Pact and Nation’s Rights to Development - Shaping a New International Order" at the United Nations Office at Geneva on April 1, 2026.
