UN Headquarters, New York, February 13 (IPPO Correspondent Li Shihui) The 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD63) convened at UN Headquarters in New York on February 10. The theme of this session is "Strengthening solidarity, social inclusion, and social cohesion to accelerate the implementation of the commitments made in the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." Representatives from countries around the world participated in the discussions.

On February 10, Geng Shuang, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, delivered remarks during the general debate. Geng expressed China's support for the statement made by the representative of Iraq on behalf of the Group of 77 and China. He noted that the current world is marked by intertwined chaos and multiple overlapping challenges, severely impacting and challenging global social development efforts. Emphasizing that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the World Summit for Social Development, he urged the international community to seize this opportunity to reaffirm commitments, unite and collaborate, build consensus, increase investments, and revitalize global social development endeavors.

Geng proposed three main points: firstly, prioritizing development by placing it at the forefront of the international agenda, accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, and leveraging emerging technologies to empower social development with wisdom; secondly, adhering to the people-centered development concept, promoting balanced resource allocation, achieving equal development opportunities, and ensuring that all people share in the fruits of social development; and thirdly, upholding multilateralism, supporting the UN's central coordinating role in global social development efforts, and increasing financial and technical support for social development in developing countries.

He also stated that China will actively participate in the preparatory work for the World Social Summit to be held in November, working with all parties to strive for ambitious outcomes at the summit and inject new impetus into global social development efforts.

On February 12, during the 7th Plenary Meeting of the 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development, Cui Guowei from the Shaanxi Patriotic Volunteer Association delivered a speech on behalf of the International Patriotic Pact Organization. He said that the International Patriotic Pact Organization advocates the international patriotic idea of "loving our own country, cannot sacrifice the interests of other countries" and firmly opposes any country achieving its own development through hegemony and plunder.

Cui pointed out that to maintain world peace and stability, the Shaanxi Patriotic Volunteer Association proposed the "international patriotic idea" at the 51st Session of the Human Rights Council and called on the UN to draft the "International Patriotic Pact" and establish an International Patriotic Committee. This initiative has received support from numerous international non-governmental organizations, with 135 NGOs from 45 countries worldwide responding positively and signing up to participate.

He called on the international community to join the International Patriotic Pact Organization in promoting the initiative and practice of the "International Patriotic Pact," strengthening global solidarity, social inclusion, and cohesion through the pact, accelerating the fulfillment of commitments in international social development declarations and programs of action, and advancing the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the same time, he indicated that the International Patriotic Pact Organization plans to hold annual forums at the UN to gather patriotic forces and consensus, promoting the healthy and orderly development of national development rights globally.

During the session, representatives from the Shaanxi Patriotic Volunteer Association also submitted the draft of the "International Patriotic Pact" to the President of the UN General Assembly. The representatives' remarks garnered widespread attention and positive evaluations from the international community.
